Do you add colour to the first 2 initial ideas I'm doing the exam tomorrow aswell

you don't have to colour anything in - even the final design! but make sure you label the colours on the design clearly

So why does it say you need colouring pencils on the exam if they won't affect the paper in anyway?!

Yeah lol
Can someone kindly tell me what it sais on the pre-release sheet? My teacher showed it to us for a brief moment and then forgot to give it on our last lesson. I know that the theme is rain forests, but i just wanted to know what it sais on the sheet so i can know exactly what to research.

This would be greatly appreciated

using rainforests as the theme, develop ideas for a textile product which includes a range of fabrics and components and some modern materials

Thank you so much! So it doesn't specify what product? Does that mean the design brief on the exam will say to design a product, and not something in particular like a bag?

And will we need to research sustainable materials?

Correct  I also have strong when wet, flame resistant, thermoplastic, doesn't shrink and versatile?

One - off: individual items made to the clients specification, labour intensive and expensive to produce, made by one highly skilled worker or a small team, can include garments such as wedding dresses, costumes and haute couture.

Batch: A specified number of products, more cost effective as materials can be ordered in larger quantities, used for high street fashion.

Mass: Continuous production of products that are always in high demand such as socks or t-shirts. Most cost effective as materials can be ordered in bulk, and may use automated machinery to cut labour costs.

What are the advantages of computer aided manufacture?

Spreads and cuts fabrics, and embroiders logos accurately. Images can also be put on fabrics with digital printing which is also more accurate. Is quicker and therefore in the long-term cheaper because less time is wasted. It also prevents labour costs, and repetitive long or specialised tasks can be done in time.

What are the advantages of CAD?

Search engines can be used to help research, computers can be used to organise and present design ideas and they can be emailed to clients for feedback, helping to make quick alterations. Colourways can be trialled which saves the time of colouring by hand and software can be used for 3d modelling. Complicated weaves or knitted designs can be made, and designs can be sent directly to machinery so the worker doesn't have to get up.

What is quality assurance?
