4 Full A-Levels? Where would I fit in?
I've just finished my A2 exams and from the way it went I think I will probably come out in the BBC-BCC range. I was thinking about self-teaching a particular fourth subject in the next year in preparation for a 2013 university entry, and I'm wondering what sort of offers that would make me eligible to? Some universities don't even mention UCAS points in their requirements, only grade ranges like ABB-BBB. How would having four full A-Levels play into these three grade offers?

    Hmm, I'm not sure.
If they mention grades, they want grades; if they mention UCAS points, then maybe they want UCAS points.

    Try emailing them?

+ if you are studying a fourth in your gap year? I presume you are as you are thinking of applying for 2013 entry; retake the modules you don't do well in?

YES, some universities don't like it but not for every course (you have to bare that in mind) - they won't like it for med, but they might not care if it's concerning stats for example?

I don't think so to be honest, as unis focuses more on the grades of your 3 A levels rather than your UCAS point. So even if you have 4 A levels they would probably not take the fourth a level as seriously. Also, would the fourth A level be your native language (if you have one) by any chance? Some Unis do not really count an A level in your native language...(as i heard from a friend).

The BBC-BCC I expect are Physics/Chemistry/Biology, and the fourth I'm thinking of taking would be Maths (which I'm guessing would probably help my application to a Physics course).

I can't find a college that will take me for a 3rd year because I have to be in Brazil from October until the new year. And it would be for a Physics course. x

Yes it would help greatly, but there would be serious many competitions with students with an A level in Further Maths (Uni love those) xD So i guess you could try and get an A in your A level maths and hopefully your grades would be ABB which will allow you to apply to the Unis which require ABB.

Firstly, can I just say I AM JEALOUS?!
I want to go to Brazil (hopefully going there in 2014 for the World Cup )

    Right,
you can take it as an external candidate?
Basically find a college and let them know you will be retaking some modules..etc and pay for them and retake them (make sure you get them to recertificate it as well)

Maths is really crucial for a physics course!
Is it possible for you to do the A2 in a year? Maybe with extra tuition..etc; because I think this will help your application significantly if you do A2 maths in a year + the three sciences with your grades higher than BBC. That would look good in my opinion

It really is an amazing country, I grew up in Rio for some of my childhood and loved every second of it, I hope you enjoy your visit. Thanks for all the advice, yes it will be possible to do within a year, before I can get going though I need to choose the right exam board and then get the study materials and plan which exams to take for January and which for June.

Hint: Go with AQA maths, not too bad and ok to handle. OCR is another level + whilst they are both recognised, AQA in my opinion has a little more weight!

I am very jealous, I love the country, the culture and the life there somehow; it just seems like paradise?

    I don't know, I can't wait though

Well say if you messed up on one of your a levels or got a grade below what they were asking for, the fourth would be something to save your place I needed AAB and I did four subjects, I got AAC and in my final one got a B which I needed :-) x
