Psychological Illnesses - treatable?
Hey,
I know quite a lot of people with psychological illnesses, i won't say which ones, because i myself don't really believe one can claim someone has a special mental illness as that undermines the complexity of the human psychology.
I want to ask you, do you really think heavy psychological issues are treatable? I know there are persons who come along with life really well after a depression. What I'm talking about is bad life experiences (abuse, bullying etc.) since childhood, these people have to undergo a complete personality change in order to have a happy life like a person who was never affected. Is this even possible? I personally have my doubts. What do you think? -
Re: Psychological Illnesses - treatable?CBT can help to change their perception on things. You cant change the past but you can change how to look at the past. A CBT approach can look at the link between thoughts, feelings and behaviour as these 3 components affect each other. Id say people are more prone to certain thoughts/ behaviours because of their personality but we can choose how to think and behave to an extent.(Original post by jaklargerne)
