    Psychological Illnesses - treatable?
    Hey,

I know quite a lot of people with psychological illnesses, i won't say which ones, because i myself don't really believe one can claim someone has a special mental illness as that undermines the complexity of the human psychology.

I want to ask you, do you really think heavy psychological issues are treatable? I know there are persons who come along with life really well after a depression. What I'm talking about is bad life experiences (abuse, bullying etc.) since childhood, these people have to undergo a complete personality change in order to have a happy life like a person who was never affected. Is this even possible? I personally have my doubts. What do you think?

CBT can help to change their perception on things. You cant change the past but you can change how to look at the past. A CBT approach can look at the link between thoughts, feelings and behaviour as these 3 components affect each other. Id say people are more prone to certain thoughts/ behaviours because of their personality but we can choose how to think and behave to an extent.
