    Autotrader Scam
    Hey guys,

Just letting you know that I'm trying to sell my car on autotrader and some guy is emailing me tryin gto do an elaborate scam saying he's sent me what I asked for + money for a courier to pick up the car but the money is "waiting" (as specified by a fake paypal email) until I pay the courier the £600. Since I'm not a tool I'm not falling for it but I am having some fun with the scammer at the moment =) Will upload out conversation when he figures me out...

    Re: Autotrader Scam
I've seen a similar scam, but on a photography website.

Photographer gives fake cheque to model for £1000 or so and says "there is £400 in it for you, would you mind sending a cheque for the other £600 to the make up artists at 'X' address for me?"

Their fake cheque clearly bounces, and the model sends their real money to a scammer somewhere. I can't believe anyone would fall for it, but that's what you get. God knows why anyone would send money to a stranger hoping that they have the good grace to forward it on. If it were my money (as a legit photographer), I'd be giving it directly to the person I'm hiring!

Hello do you still have this vehicle for sale?

    Afternoon John,

Yes, I do still have the vehicle for sale. Is there anything that I can help you with?

    Regards,

    Scott

Thanks for your response..I'm quite satisfied with the condition and
price, and I need you to understand that i am willing and ready to
purchase it right away, end the advert, consider me as your favorite
buyer.I will be paying the PayPal charges from my account and will be
paying directly into your PayPal account without any delay, and I hope
you have a paypal account. If you have one already, just send me the
address to send it to, which is the email address you use for it or
you can send me a paypal money request, so once i receive the details
i will go ahead with the payment through PayPal and then I will
contact my shipping company after you get the payment. I will
need your home address for it to be Picked Up by the Shipping Company..
    Regards.

    Hey again John,

Where about is it that you live? my paypal address is _________.

    Regards,

    Scott
(at this point I was thinking it was a scam I've experienced before where people give you money, take your item but then claim the money back via a paypal dispute saying someone hacked them and did it and I was intrigued to see how he would come get my car without the police getting involved....

I have made the payment now as promised. You will be receiving the
payment confirmation message from Paypal regarding the payment,
check your paypal (________) in box or junk or spam.

The shipping company wants £600.00 GBP for pick up and deliverer. So I made a
total payment of £2,950.00GBP .So i added £600.00 GBP for the
shipping company and 50GBP for western union charges to send the money,
and Please let me know as soon as you send them the money and also
    get back to me with
your home address so that i can forward it to them and they will
    arrange for pickup date,

Bellow is the shipping company agent information who will come for the
Pick Up and where to send the £600.00 GBP . thank you. so here is the
agent western union address for the payment below....

    Name:Paul Charleen
    Address:Lyon House 160-166
    Borough High Street
    London SE1 1JR
    United Kingdom

I will be waiting to here from you soon..

    Best Regards

Hmm..that's unusual, John, the email from paypal has gone to my junk box and says it's from a strange gmail address...do you know any reason why this might be?

The money will only reflect in your account until you reply back to
the confirmation email you received from PayPal by sending the mtcn
number of the £600.00 GBP that is to be send to my pick up agent so that
they can come for the pick up..if you have gone through the email you
received from PayPal very well regarding the payment i made...you must
have been notify about all this..You can trust me 100% about this,The
money has been deducted from my account its now pending into yours Ok?

So now I've decided I want to try scam him! So I replied with:
    Hey John,

I phoned the courier and they said that they wanted an extra £350 for coming all the way up to Scotland (from London) to get the car. Unfortunately my paypal has a limit of £3000 on it, so on top of the £2950 you sent me you will need to transfer the £300 difference directly to my bank otherwise I can't pay the courier until I get your money mate? Once I get the £300 from you I will transfer the £600 to your courier and we will get the car sent to you?

He hasn't replied yet so I just followed up with this:

    Hey John,

The courier is really hassling me, can you transfer me the £300 to my bank account soon please? He says it's got to be today before 5pm or never.

I don't want you to miss out on this beautiful car!

    Re: Autotrader Scam
Hello it seems you dont understand me? i have already transfer the
fund to your paypal account and paypal said you will need to send
600GBP to my courier shipping agent via western union and get back to
them with the MTCN so that they can credit your account. i m not
asking you for any courier service from your side . i have already
notify my own courier company and you have to send the addition 600GBP
I added to the price of the car so kindly make the payment and get
    back to paypal asap.

    Thanks

    John,

I phoned YOUR courier service and they said the cost is £900 not £600. So you need to transfer me £300 extra so I can pay the courier. My paypal has a limit of £3000 (which you have already transferred me) so you will need to transfer the money directly into my bank account.

Can I ask, why did you not just pay the courier yourself to save us all this trouble you silly billy !

    Regards,

    Scott

Thanks for your interest in my band! Unfortunately you found my old band from when I was 12. I am now 23. My new bands material can be found on iTunes (search SilverbySkyline) or at our facebook page by the same name.

Thanks again for your (surprisingly off-topic) interest.
