What is it and what have I done? Where the big bruise is on the arch of my foot. Did it last night just before scoring a try when I twisted to dodge a tackle.

I did something similar - when you walk, is there a pain near the arch of your foot? Kinda felt like the muscle was being stretched too far and I had to limp for a while. I don't know what muscle it was, but mine got better in about 4 days.

Think its ligament damage not a muscle pull. When I broke my ankle I also damaged some ligament in my ankle and had a bruise (still do) in the same place compared to the one in your picture.

As said before it is a ligament damage...I damaged them before when doing triple jump.

    That's not a pulled muscle, that's a sprained foot.

    RICE

    rest. ice. compression. elevation.

Don't do ANYTHING on it. Can't recommend ibuprofen - just let the inflammation take its course and let it heal. Maybe some paracetomol for the pain.

Yeah I've been rice-ing, believe me I've had enough injuries, torn ligaments, breaks, sprains, strains the lot, to do that straight off.

Seems like it's the posterior tibialis tendon that's causing the issues. ****balls. Only just got back from tearing the outer ligaments on my other ankle five months back.
