Can't contact History lecturers
Hi there,
I'm hoping to be enrolled at Essex university and really want to be as best prepared as possible and decided to contact some lecturers for the subject I am doing (history).
Unfortunately I've been emailing them using my gmail account and the email keeps bouncing back. Is this a common problem or do I need to use another email?
Also anyone who has studied/studying Modern History BA, advice will be welcomed with open arms
Much Appreciated -
Re: Can't contact History lecturersFor enquiries related to starting an undergrad course I would email using the department address (found here). Many faculties will have a staff member assigned to answer these questions (usually whoever's in charge of applications); if it needs a more specific answer then the message would be forwarded to the appropriate person.(Original post by Coca-Cola Kid)

The problem is that the staff member you're messaging may be on research leave, in which case the messages could be intentionally rebounding; or if the question is module related (like reading lists) they may have a doctoral student teaching it, in which case the staff member isn't necessarily the best person to ask despite their job description on the site making it sound like they are. Always best to play it safe I think, and whoever is monitoring the department address will know what to do.
That is, unless you're positive that you should be messaging the staff member directly (i.e., they've told you to). It's not a big problem or anything, but it could just save time and awkwardness.
