MSc Occupational Therapy Interview
Hi
I have applied for MSc OT at Northumbria and Teeside, and so far have got an interview at Teeside in a couple of weeks.
Does anyone know what kinds of questions I might be asked in the interview?
Or any general advice?
I'm particularly worried about the 'current issues' type questions.
Massive thankyou in advance for any replies!

Re: MSc Occupational Therapy Interview
I have applied to Teeside aswell to do this course and havent recieved an interview date yet. when did you apply? I am guessing by now you have had the interview? how did it go? Any advice you can give me for when (fingers crossed) I have mine. I had an interview for Cumbria so if you havent had it yet I could give you an idea of what kind of questions they asked not sure how much help it would be though

Re: MSc Occupational Therapy Interview
Hi guys,
I'm currently at Teesside doing the MSc (started in Jan) and the interviews differ for everyone in my group. So I had a group interview which had a load of us in a group firstly being given an overview of the course and we all had to put forward a question we wanted to know a bout the course, then we were given a hypothetical situation based on a child with learning difficulties & we had to discuss whether the imaginary child should go to a mainstream school or a special needs school. Based on our level of participation we where then put into 2 groups and had to complete a group task, but I can't tell you about that as that would be cheating
.
Then we had a writing task to say why we'd be good at OT's but the main focus was how your previous degree gave you skills that you could use in OT. So focus on your dissertation and the type of skills you have developed.
The day was fun & you get to meet your prospective students and you also get the chance to have a 1:1 which the course leader should you want it.
Good luck and let me know if you get in as 2nd year MSc students have a buddy with the first years! Any other questions you have, let me know -

Hi Claire
I have accepted a place on the Masters course to start next Jan Im really looking forward to it. How are you finding it? I did English as my first degree so think Ill find it quite different. How are the hours? I was wondering if its realistic to have a part time job alongside the course?
Any other advice or info would be great!
Thanks

Hi Alex
I'm loving it! It's a great course and the lecturers are really easy to get to know and are really happy to help you. I wouldn't worry too much on the English degree side, there were a lot of people with very different degrees in my year, from sociology to sports science etc.
In terms of the hours, what we did was three days in uni (wed/thurs/fri) and yes it is possible to have a part time job. Again the majority of my year have them. I will say though that make sure you get a flexible one as placements are full on! Just finished my first placement and start my second one next week.
As the year goes on, you'll get access to a website with lots of physiology/anatomy type stuff workbooks. They are well worth reading up on. Think you'll get that info round October/November time if my memory serves me! -

Hi Claire,
I have started looking at properties to rent around Teesside. As we are looking at moving down September time. any advice on where are good areas to live and where to avoid etc? Thank you in advance.
Erm i only moved here in January. I lived in Reading before that so I literally lined up loads of places to view and came up for a weekend to see as many as I could. I live near Albert park, which seems ok. I've not had any trouble since moving here.
Spareroom.com is really great for looking at house shares. Sorry I can't be any more helpful
.
