    Beginner Piercing Question
I'm a young guy, so no real experience and any help would be appreciated. Essentially I'm going to get ear piercing done, though I heard you had to wear the studs for a few months without removing them? Is this true? Is this a definite thing, as in removing it for a few hours will cause issues?

Yes. Of course they need time to heal...ideally you shouldn't change the jewellery at all for around 2-3 months (generally the longer the better, give it chance to fully heal) but it can take significantly longer than that for some people to be able to go without jewellery for a few hours.

If you're talking about getting the top of your ear done or other cartilage, it'll take much longer than a lobe to heal.

Get them done with a needle rather than a gun and you'll have less chance of having problems. Guns are pretty rubbish.

Yeah with lobes you are supposed to wear the studs they put in for 6 weeks, you could probably change them after that but I'd say don't leave the hole open for at least 2-3months or it will close over. If you're talking about cartilege then it's gonna be a lot longer...
