    I wouldn't choose to phrase it in such a straightforward way, but yes, essentially. Reading has all sorts of mental benefits, from the obvious (improvements to your vocabulary, increased knowledge) to the less obvious (enhanced emotional intelligence from reading fiction).

    I read once that; "a reader will live a thousand lives, whilst a non-reader only lives one."
    Although I did read this in a book, so whether or not it's slightly biased or exaggerated is up for you to decide.
