    Flute and braces
Hi, I've just found out i have a place to play flute on the NYO inspire day on July 22nd, but I've just got braces this week (traditional train tracks).
Does anyone have any tips on how to get a good tone in time, if that's possible at all? I've just looked at the part and i have several solos... I really don't want to humiliate myself by sounding gross!

It will take time to adjust playing an instrument with braces. Just keep practising, although bare in mind that your mouth will be relatively tender for the first week after having them fitted - so i'm not sure how much playing you'll be able to do.

Thanks! I've got wax to help with the braces rubbing, and i'm hoping to fit in as much practise as I can and hopefully my sound will be back in three weeks... I'll just have to keep topped up with painkillers I guess!
