Poor night sleep = Weak immune system
Does anyone else experience a weak immune system after a bad night sleep? For me, one night of bad sleep alone and I immediately come down with a cold.

    Thanks

bad nights sleep and lack of excersise both apparently cause a drop in the immune system ... it really sucks, double whammy for me

My friends say I always seem to have a cold, and I'm always half asleep so there might be truth in this. I suppose sleepiness means your body can't react to any threats as quickly, making it easier to pick up infections.

I sometimes don't sleep for 4days or have say 7hours in naps, because I suffer from insomnia so bad. I used to get colds ALL the time but with a very healthy diet and exercise it seems they've stopped. Sometimes I'll get extremely weak, be sick and basically be bed ridden for a couple of days, with no reason or warning, where I'll sleep for 18hours straight.

I definitely think lack of sleep has some sort of effect on the immune system...

Wow puppet that sounds brutal. I have a problem where I wake up at like midnight and struggle to sleep until around 5am when I'm not doing much like now but it's alright when I'm busy

Have you thought about going to the doctor and asking about having allergy tests? Constant cold and heavy, sore eyes are pretty common if you suffer from hayfever or some other similar kind of allergy. I get what seems like a chest infection if I leave my hayfever untreated for too long, I take a tablet and within a day or two it's all cleared up.

To the OP, I'd say try to eat better and do more exercise to make yourself tired. I can suffer from the same and feel really rough after a bad night's sleep. But since I've been doing more during the day and eating better I have hardly suffered at all.

I'm normally alright actually. Did a 70-hour shift in work once (voluntarily, don't worry!), and was so awake afterwards I went for a bike ride before bed at midday. Woke up the next morning and felt hunky-dorey.

One thing worth noting about allergies is that it's your immune system over-reacting to allergens. So potentially a lack of sleep would help?
