Got 1st year results - career in law???
For my first year results I have got :
Torts - 57
contract 48 upset
but I messed it up badly
constitutional - 60
Other modules - ELS 57 legal skills 62
I don't know the average because they have different weighting.
Realistically speaking do I still have a chance in a career in law ? would it be more difficult to get TCs now ?
any advice please -

I wouldn't say be too disheartened if these are your first year results, just work very hard to get a 2:1 in second year, make sure you have a good solid variety of extra-curriculars etc. and you should be sweet to send applications. Firms will ask you not to apply until you've got your second year module grades anyway - so if you can pull off some good marks next year that would be in your best interests.
All the best. -

Realistically, will it affect your chances of getting a TC? Yes. It won't have helped, and it is considerably below what is the standard of applicants, and further still below the standard of successful applicants.
Does it mean you are completely without a chance? No.
What is important now is how you react to these results. It is for you to decide what path to take now.Last edited by Aspiringlawstudent; 07-07-2012 at 05:08. -

Being realistic, they're worse than average. However, it does mean you will have to work extra hard in your 2nd and 3rd year to get past the automatic application filter stage.
Like the other posters say - don't dwell on this negative. Work harder in your 2nd and 3rd year to get better.
but I messed it up badly
