Random blood that's not a period... Side effect from the pill?
Anon because it's personal and I know people on here.

    Hey there,
Last night there was blood coming from my vagina and I'm not sure why, it happened after I went for a run (ran for ~45mins)
It was only a little bit. It won't be my period (I'm never irregular and never have spotting) but I have been on the pill for a little over a week now so could it just be a side effect from that?
Just weirded out because I've never had random bleeding before so I was wondering if it could be a side effect from the pill (I take it correctly, same time everyday, with no vomiting or whatever soon after) or is it a chance it was something else?
Oo and if it matters, like a week before I started the pill I had accidentally unprotected sex (condom split) and had to take the morning after pill.

probably a side effect and your body freaking out a little from putting hormones in it at levels it isn't used to (MAP and pill)... check the list of side effects on the leaflet that came with your pills.

Which pill are you on, combined or mini pill? I'm on mini pill and one of common side affects is spotting or irregular periods, it's perfectly fine. Is it a lot of blood or only a little bit? If it's a lot of blood and happens for days on end you might want to see your doctor but it's quite common for women on the pill to have a little bit of spotting every day. Read the instructions and advice that comes inside your pill box, that explains all the possible side affects to you

OK thanks guys It was only a little bit that night, I'm assuming it's just pill-related seeing as it is listed as a possible side effect

If you are concerned it is always worth while speaking with a health professional. It is most likely not the case but bleeding in between periods can be a symptom of an STI such as Chlamydia, so it might be worth taking a free test, which is usually just a pee in a bottle, just for peace of mind. The NHS chlamydia screening programme website will show you where you can pick one up from in your local area http://www.chlamydiascreening.nhs.uk/.

    Hope that helps.
