    Interview PGCE Secondary MFL
    Hi everybody, I have the interview at London Metropolitan University - MFL, Spanish and French - but I am a little confused. They told me to prepare a micro-lesson of 5 minutes. Regarding to this here you are part of the e-mail:
    - you can teach in any language except for English one lesson only, maximum of 5 minutes;
    - there will not be access to ICT so you will not be able to use a PowerPoint presentation;
    - you should not prepare worksheets;
    - you should focus on Listening and Speaking skills;
    - you can refer to your own notes.
    How can I teach in a creative way if I am not able to use power point or any kind of exercise to give to the group? Is there anybody who attended an interview recentely who can help me?

    Teaching beginners/adults/kids/the interviewers? Need to know that.

    You're looking at introducing vocabulary though, basically. Around 4 picture flashcard for 5 minutes should be fine, follow this:

    1) Say the word, they repeat. Do this with the next one. Start with more familiar cognates if possible.
    2) Ask students a yes/no question on these ones.
    3) Then move on to "is this a _____ or a ______?"
    4) Finally, "what is this?" (ask more than one student, return to any student who was unsure at any point)
    5) Repeat with the other two words, then question on all 4 briefly.
    6) If by some miracle you have some time left, have the words on separate pieces of paper and ask 4 'students' to put them next to the correct picture. OR put the flashcards on the wall/board and play 'hit the board'.

    This is a pretty standard vocab introduction, and it's how I was taught to introduce vocab. BUT in the context of a longer lesson I prefer to have students match up the vocabulary themselves as they are usually more than capable, and they all have to try. But I think that's a bit risky within 5 minutes. Possible within 5 minutes I guess- "guess what these mean" followed by going through and pronunciation then a recognition game like 'hit the board'. (maybe someone will negate me but it IS my preferred method usually)

    Oh, and make sure you ask them what they learned VERY quickly at the end as a plenary of sorts.
