Freshers' Week 2011 @ DUSA | The Union
Hello everyone
The lineup for Freshers' Week 2011 has been announced and is available to view on dusa.co.uk/freshers
Get your Freshers' & VIP Pass online today.
Looking forward to seeing you all from Friday September 2nd. -
Re: Freshers' Week 2011 @ DUSA | The UnionAs far as I know you can pay for individual nights but I don't know prices. For someone like the view it would probably be £8 or £9 but that's a total guess so don't rely on that!(Original post by ChrisDonnelly)
Can you pay on individual nights on freshers week? Like how much would it cost to see The View for example if you didn't have the pass? -
Re: Freshers' Week 2011 @ DUSA | The Union
Yeah I'm fairly sure you should be able too pay on the night but bare in mind that acts like The View are liable to sell out fast, you can probably pick up tickets at the start of the week which would be a better idea. I think DUSA sells their tickets in the wee corner shop to the right of the main entrance to the union but I've only been thrice and never bought tickets so I could be wrong.

Re: Freshers' Week 2011 @ DUSA | The UnionThe Premier shop is the usual ticket selling place, however I don't think that's the same for Fresher's events. I THINK you'll need to just try and get down early the night of whatever it is you're specifically wanting to see. Seeing as the fresher's bands are being sold there'll be a numbers issue so there probably won't be a huge amount of extra tickets up for grabs.(Original post by Brizee)

Re: Freshers' Week 2011 @ DUSA | The Union
Freshers' Pass students are given priority before the venue opens. Once the venue has been open for an hour/two hours (depends on the event) only then would tickets go on sale. For guest act events, such as The View, we expect to be very busy and not have any tickets on sale.

Re: Freshers' Week 2011 @ DUSA | The UnionI want to bring this issue up since DUSA have begun to advertising the line up for this years Fresher's lineup:(Original post by Vitamin D)
Kissy Sellout and Ellie Goulding?! Pulled it out of the bag this year!

I remember when Ellie Goulding was announced, but as it turned out, she was never booked:
https://twitter.com/elliegoulding/st...12140668915712I was never doing freshers week in Dundee, I don't know where you got that from sorry x
Now I'm not saying that DUSA advertises artists they haven't booked to sell Fresher's Bands. But I fear that DUSA advertises artists they haven't booked to sell Fresher's Bands. I've not been able to find any apology from DUSA in regards to this discrepancy.
But this time round it might be interesting to pay close attention to the acts they are advertising this year, and to whether these are actually booked. -
Re: Freshers' Week 2011 @ DUSA | The UnionIt is very interesting, isn't it? Then they cover it up by saying that the artist "pulled out", I'd be willing to bet the same thing will happen with some of them this year too.(Original post by Piprod01)

Update: I made a reference to this incident in a comment on the DUSA Facebook page which was subsequently deleted and I was blocked from liking/commenting anything else on the page. Defensive.Last edited by Vitamin D; 22-06-2012 at 17:02. -
Re: Freshers' Week 2011 @ DUSA | The UnionOuch. If they do it this year I think I should make an official complaint.(Original post by Vitamin D)

Re: Freshers' Week 2011 @ DUSA | The Union
Whilst I can't possibly comment on this, given I have absolutely no idea and it would be... inappropriate for me to speculate on the affairs of DUSA in this regard - it's nice to see students looking into things this critically. Will be interesting to see where it all leads.

Re: Freshers' Week 2011 @ DUSA | The UnionSin City's page have deleted my comments too whenever I criticised them for too much brostep, it seems that student union organisers are often very defensive!(Original post by Vitamin D)

Re: Freshers' Week 2011 @ DUSA | The Union
sin city aren't run by the union, they're run by an external promotion agency (ice dragon, who run all the urban nights in dundee pretty much)
as for the dusa acts, in my 3 years there as far as i'm aware dusa have never made a false statement about who was turning up. there's been cancellations etc as you'll always get, but they've always been pretty true to their word.
as for turning up on the night, it's possible, i did it pretty much every night in second and third year, although i was paying like 5,6 quid or sometimes not getting into what i wanted to in mono. if you get down a bit early you should be fine though, i've never not got into the union in freshers week for it being too busy (or in any of 100s of nights i've been there) but sometimes you'll end up sat in one of the bars or in floor 5 as mono will be packed out. and yeah if there's any tickets left for the saturday act it'll be like 9 quid. although i've not made it out on the saturday of freshers since first year as i was too skint/had a sore liver the next two years.Last edited by TheJeebs; 25-06-2012 at 19:48. -
Re: Freshers' Week 2011 @ DUSA | The Union
I can tell you for a FACT Ellie Goulding was booked and confirmed with her agent, and the cancellation came from their end not DUSA's.
Unfortunately cancellations happen in the nightlife world, there's no use digging for some conspiracy that isn't there.
You'll often find artists have no idea when or where they're booked, when planning these things promoters deal with agents and managers who don't pass everything on. -
Re: Freshers' Week 2011 @ DUSA | The UnionJust annoying I was blocked from the page, I didn't say anything particularly rude about it(Original post by DUNC4N)
