Some may have seen my earlier thread "Disastrous Decision" about buying a WII for really cheap and for some reason decided to see if I could chip it on youtube (Video is from 2011). Stumbled on to a website and was wondering, is soft modding a WII safe? If I update my WII will it get bricked? Anyone else done it? Even though this video is from 2011 and I updated my WII software yesterday is it still safe? Can't seem to find any of the answers on my friend (Google).

Only reason is not to spend more money on games which cost a fortune even though WII games are pretty bad.
