Why did you firm Royal Holloway?
As the title suggests: RH firmers, why did you firm Royal Holloway? What was the deciding factor for you?

I like the uni a lot, they're good for my course and they gave a good offer. You?

I haven't gone there yet! I am seriously considering applying this year though, because it looks amazing!

At the time, I firmed Royal Holloway because of its strength and reputation in my subject, because of the lovely campus and atmosphere, and because it felt like home. I also loved the range of accommodation and the fact that it wasn't too far from London.

Location to home, and size of the university.

The clincher for me was just how helpful department staff have been through out my application! I received some very friendly and informal emails from staff and lecturers at RHUL in response to questions that I had and it was just such a huge difference to the others I had applied to who fobbed me off on Administration, who in themselves weren't very helpful.

In the end, I want to know that if it comes down to me needing help in something that the staff are going to support me. Even through the application process I felt supported by them.

And waking up and feeling like I'm living in Hogwarts everyday isn't going to hurt too much either

For me, I have been drawn to it since last year, I would look at other universities but it was RHUL I kept coming back to. I am going to study Psychology and they have a good reputation, and going to the open day in March confirmed my thoughts and I felt at home. It was the only university that I came away feeling excited about studying there. I came straight home and firmed that evening.

For me it was because they truly gave me the best all round offer. The location is close, the course is great and I just love the feel of the univeristy itself Not to mention the amount of resources you have access to if you attend the uni. Windsor and London are quite close to so that was also another positive for me

The course, the location - not too far from home but far enough away - realistic grade offer, and the campus looks amazing!

I always wanted a proper old school university with the old amazing architecture and what felt like a real university. RHUL had this really intimate feel as well and the course leaders seemed so passionate about their subject. It was close to home too which ended up being the reason for it being my firm as well.

A safe calm campus location combined with the location and accessibility of nearby culture centre; namely London. The comfortable mix of modern and old architecture/environment and a media course which covers a lot of academic and practical work.

Honestly Royal Holloway just blew my mind, I was never even thinking of applying until I saw a picture of it and thought I'd pop in and have a look round and I found the atmosphere to be really friendly and exactly what I was looking for - a campus university near but not in a big city. I went to an interview/UCAS open day and that totally sealed it for me because I LOVED the Biosciences building and the department staff. My interviewer was fantastic - I actually left feeling like I'd learnt things because we had a big chat about stuff I was interested in (Infectious disease ) and he laughed about the glaring error in my personal statement.

I just couldn't really imagine going anywhere else after it.

    I blindly chose it.

I just hope that I made the right decision.

Don't worry I remember you! I was all ready for York then a few circumstances changed and I wanted to be closer to home so RHUL it was! Are you still going to York?
