    Entry requirements
I'm currently in year 12 looking for uni courses that start in sept 2012 and I really want to study Ancient History(Classical Studies) and English as a combined honours degree. The entry requirements to study this at the universities ive been looking at is generally AAA-AAB and they all require English at grade A. I was just wondering if anyone knew that of I didn't achieve the A in English but achieved an A* in another subject such as classics that involves a vast writing component, if I could still get in? I was also wondering if they would tale into consideration that I have taken 3 ASs a year early and carried two of those on to A2. Thanks a lot!

not usually; if you don't meet the grades for a particular subject you don't get in. It's different for a range of grades though (eg. ABC may equal BBB)

It would probably depend on the particular university and your other attributes as a candidate, but the default position would be that if they ask for something, you are making the admissions tutor's job very easy if you don't have it. You are best off contacting your target universities individually.

    I assume you mean 2013

Is English one you have already completed?

And ... you are saying that you have completed 2 A levels this year ... how many will you be taking in Y13 ... if not 3 then that may create an issue too

I wouldn't say they'd take into account your doing anything early being in your favour. If you failed to meet their requirements it would suggest that you werent ready for that sort of pre mature testing.

    Chin up and good luck

Yeah sorry I meant 2013! No I've taken the AS in English this year, the normal time. I'll hopefully have 4 A levels, 2 AS levels and a Pre U due to the accelerated curriculum. Ah mannn there is practically no advantage to taking exams early then is there? My school is so stupid for forcing us to sit them a year early! Thanks for the advice though
