Re: Clearance 2012Have you already applied through UCAS?(Original post by sandersrofl)
I'm confused as to what I do on the University of Aberdeen's clearance day? Would I check the uni's website and if a place comes up do I then phone the university and ask?
Or would I phone the day my exam results come in?
Do you currently have any offers that you have firmed (and insured, if relevant)?
What results are you waiting on? -
Re: Clearance 2012It's a small world on TSR... I think I also posted on your thread in the student finance section.(Original post by sandersrofl)
I have and have a conditional for 2013, but the course was full to un-defer my course if that makes sense, and I'm waiting on ABBB in August, which is my 2013 condition.
If you've already got an offer from Aberdeen, you don't need to use Clearing. On results day, you can phone them up and ask if they now have any spaces for 2012. Try it on Scottish results day and, if that is unsuccessful, also try A-level results day as well.
If it fails on A-level results day, that IMO is the time to get released and use Clearing if you want to go to university in 2012. Be aware that this plan may end up with no 2012 place and no 2013 place either ... so personally I wouldn't risk it.Last edited by TheSownRose; 06-07-2012 at 01:32. -
Re: Clearance 2012I don't know - I've never used SAAS myself, and I believe there are enough differences between it and SFE that I wouldn't want to assume any advice would apply.(Original post by sandersrofl)
Thanks! How will that affect SAAS? I haven't applied yet and so do the special circumstances apply for one just phoning on results day?
In SFE, you can (or at least you could; it's all gone online now, I did it using paper forms, so I don't know if the system still allows it) apply for finance in general and then add the university details in later when you know. I'd recommend phoning SAAS and see if this is possible.
If you do this and don't end up going this year, make sure you tell them. My friend assumed that SFE would just realise that she hadn't gone to university and it messed everything up (they didn't pay her any of it, they just counted her as a returning student somehow and it delayed the next year's application because she applied as a new student.)
