Graph Program
I have some work to do this summer for AS maths that has been set and it needs the use of a graph drawing computer program. At school we have a program called 'autograph' which we use, but that costs money to buy, and so I was wondering if anyone knew of any similar programs for drawing graphs that I could download for free.
By the way, I need it do be able to work out the gradient of a curve, and I also have a mac. It's probably a long shot but I thought I may as well ask. Thanks. -

Re: Graph ProgramMy school gave out free copies of Autograph because they had the extended licence available for schools.
Could you maybe ask your school whether they have something similar?
If not, try Wolfram Alpha.

I've plotted a simple circle on there just to show you what it comes out like.
Just type what you want in the box, and it will pretty much just do it for you!
If you enter the curve in the form
, then you can look down to where it has 'implicit derivatives' on Wolfram.
One of the entries will be
, and this gives the formula you want for the derivative

This is the one I use. Just love it.

Re: Graph ProgramI don't know what an implicite derivative is, but it looks right, so thanks.(Original post by placenta medicae talpae)

Re: Graph ProgramYeah, don't worry about that.(Original post by CJG21)
I don't know what an implicite derivative is, but it looks right, so thanks.
It is correct, but you don't need to worry about what the words mean.
Just look for the funny symbol and think 'gradient' =) -
