Re: OCR A - anyone have any practical 1 past papers? The real past papers are aren't allowed to be seen because they're often too similar to the actual one you're likely to get. That's what I was told(Original post by haj1989)
For any of the quantitative, evaluative, quantitative etc? I have seen the specimen papers but would like to see some real past papers for the practical exams?
Thanks

Re: OCR A - anyone have any practical 1 past papers?
Sorry to bump the thread, have you done AS practical work yet then? If so (or anyone else for that fact), for either of the three assessments (of which I;m told you can have up to three goes in), are we expected to draw graphs/tables often, or are they usually provided for us? Just interested to know as I haven't done chem practical work for a few years haha. I'm pretty confident the AS exams should be fine in January and I should achieve an A in them, it's just the practical i'm worried about. Any hints or tips? i'm hoping for a mid to high A in Atoms, bonds and groups and then any sort of an A in the other module.

There are three types of coursework, which you can have a go at each 3 times. The best for each category goes through.
For Quantitative, there are 2 parts.
In part 1, you are expected to carry out some sort of experiment and you are marked on your quality of the recorded results and their accuracy. So yes, you are expected to draw tables. For part 2, you must use your results in further calculations. I've not seem them ask you to plot a graph before but they are allowed to ask you.
For qualitative, there is 1 part.
You are to carry out and experiment and record what you see, so you will probably have to draw a table again, or they may give you a table to fill in.
You may also have to draw a graph in this section, although I have not seen it.
For Evaluative
You are asked to interpret methods of collecting data and their accuracy, validity etc. You won't have to draw anything in this section. -
Re: OCR A - anyone have any practical 1 past papers? Thanks, I sort of already know most of that. My one other question is to do with how close your values are to the teachers. Let's say for one of the qualitatives I have to do a titration and muck up the results and get a result way different from the teachers. As long as I construct correct tables, put all the values to correct and the same decimal places, and conduct all the calculations correctly (even if it is with a figure from the titration that is way out from the teacher value), will I still be able to receive most of the marks through the ECF system?(Original post by herothing11)
