EGGS!
Hi, I have some questions if somebody could please answer them

1) If you make eggs on toast like this
Is it okay to eat even if the yolk looks slightly uncooked? and how do you make it, do you just crack the egg straight onto the pan and lift it off when the egg white looks done?
(Sunny side up)
2) When cracking eggs is it okay if small egg shells go in, like really small? Or do you have to try take out all of the ones you can?Last edited by IgorYakov; 09-07-2012 at 21:24. -
Re: EGGS!
I love my eggs when the yolk is slightly runny. I crack the egg straight into the pan and hope there aren't any egg shells (if there are, I'd just pick them out once I take the egg out). I cook it long enough so the egg white has just about firmed but the yolk is still runny. I've been having my eggs like this for years and I'm still alive

Re: EGGS!
You can eat eggs raw, so there's nothing to worry about there! Eating bits of shell won't hurt you either (unless you somehow manage to get a wee cut when you eat it). Don't be afraid to give the egg a good whack when you're cracking it - I mean don't obliterate it completely, but do use a bit of force - as cracking it a bit harder makes it less likely that you'll get any shell. Also don't hesitate when you break it open.
Oh and if you think fried eggs are good, try poaching! Clearly the best way to cook an egg: http://www.jamieoliver.com/recipes/e...s/poached-eggs -

1) yes and yes
2) it won't kill you but probably won't be very pleasant. Try to avoid. -
Re: EGGS!
Undercooked egg and a bit of shell wont do you any harm. I have pet chickens so get plenty of eggs every day, no ones died from my cooking yet...

In fact you can crack a few uncooked eggs into a glass, whisk with some sugar, milk, and nutmeg and hey presto you have yourself eggnog which is a pretty popular wintertime beverage in Canada and the USA. -

Even better way of poaching (I'm bad at doing it in a saucepan)-boil some water in a kettle, pour in a bowl, crack the egg in immediately and microwave it for 32-50 seconds depending on how done you want it. Drain the water and serve a delicious, tidy poached egg. -

Re: EGGS!
Crack it straight in to a pan which has some sizzling butter. Then after a while you can VERY CAREFULLY flip it - cooks the egg white perfectly and you still get the run yolk when you stab it open. I have never managed to do this (always break the yolk when I flip it so then I have to mix the whole thing) but that's how my mum makes them.
