Books
Looking to read a few books this summer that will hopefully aid my personal statement, and obviously be interesting to me. I've got a short list that I've found via googling/recommendations but hoping for a few more titles. I have a particular interest in the environmental/climate change/weather etc side of Geography but any topic is useful. Also any fiction thats related will be interesting also so if anyone has anything worth reading please say!
Thanks in advance -
Re: BooksI know a perfect book relating to climate change...Snowball Earth (Gabrielle Walker.) It explores the theory that the Earth was once frozen fully over, around the time of the end of the Pre-Cambrian. As a geology AS level student, I have to say this book was truly interesting and inspiring. Could you send me your other books in the list, I'm looking for a new book to read.(Original post by gl71994)

Re: Books
Having some knowledge about how/why Geography is studied at University level will help - both for PS/interviews but also as a preparation for Uni level study (a big step change from A levels/school).
Have a look at a series of books called 'Short Introductions to ....' They are small, cheap and detailed - and aimed at 1st Year Uni students. There are a range of these relevant to Geography - http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_...n+to+geography including 'Geography', 'Place', 'Geopolitics' etc etc etc. As well as introducing that area of study, they have good recommendations for 'further reading', and clear, easy to grasp explanations of leading academic thought in that field etc.
