Books Written in a New Language?
    Hey,
I've recently (pre-exam summer days!) read 1984 and Clockwork Orange and absolutely loved not only the dystopian imagery and ideas, but also the fact that it had such strong references to a language 'made up' by the author (Newspeak/Nadsat) and was wondering if anyone had any good dystopian reads with similar themes/ideas?
    Thanks

Brave New World by Aldous Huxley is a brilliant dystopic novel. It's completely weird, but brilliant. I don't remember if there's any new language in there though, it's been a couple of years since I last read it.

'We' by Yevgeny Zamyatin - doesn't really pick up on language but a great dystopian read nonetheless; Orwell himself was greatly influenced by it!
'The Handmaid's Tale' by Margaret Atwood - a bit of a trickier read as feminism is also a major theme, but the manipulation of language is very prominent, with a great twist at the end linked to it.
'Fahrenheit 451' by Ray Bradbury - a classic. Books are destroyed in this dystopia.
'Anthem' by Ayn Rand - a nice, short read. Insteresting that the word "I", "me", "myself" are replaced by "we", "our" etc.
And of course as previously mentioned, Huxley's 'Brave New World'.
    Enjoy!
