Re: Basic books for veterinary medicineCurrent UK issues, use the farmers weekly website or DEFRA. Those are good starts. Otherwise, In Practice is a very good magazine but I'm not sure if you can get it without being a current vet student from the BVA. To be honest you should wait until you get to uni to learn. Anatomy is impossible to learn without being lectured first, as is most other things, and you could just be learning reams of irrelevant information. If you want a basic book get the introduction to vet medicine which I'll link you to in a minute, I can also link you to a very good basic rabbit owner medicine book which has all the rabbit basic content in it as well if you're interested, easy to read without any prior knowledge as aimed at owners.

There's a really good Mander Portman Woodward book called Getting Into Vet School. I had it for Christmas I finished it by teatime! Not only has it got some really useful stuff about applying to vet School, one of the last chapters is dedicated to common diseases that you may encounter in practice. It's available from Amazon at a reasonable price.
