How to remember the base details/surface facts?
    Hello,
I'm currently in college and doing the ABE level 4 diploma course. There's a lot of theory in my course and I've got issues with it. I can understand the ideas/concepts behind the theory but remembering the base details / exact facts is a problem for me. I keep forgetting what I read but do clearly understand the ideas. How do I remember what I read for a long time? Can someone please help me.

Write it out, print our several copies and stick them around your house.

You can't help but notice them.

Gabriel: The best way to seriously improve memory is by application of mnemonic techniques. Don’t run away yet! You would do well to buy one of the well-regarded books (or home-study courses) that will take a few minutes a day for a few weeks, and allow you to become proficient in this and a zillion other memory-related skills. In other words, this skill will help you with ALL your studies - and your occupation after that. And it will be easy to learn. I lecture at colleges and professional institutions in the U.S., including the New York City Police Department Academy. The evaluation forms at the end of my sessions almost all include some variation of “it was fun.”

My book is one of several that will give you incredible new skills FOREVER. Pick the one that seems right for you.

That's exactly what I do: write down important and difficult-to-memorise facts on pieces of paper and stick them everywhere, such as on my fridge, so that whenever I need to get some food I read them even without intending to. In my experience, it really helps remember stuff.

I find writing it out again and again works the best.

It is not the learning, but actually the process of remembering which helps learning. Each time you have to pull an idea from deep down, that idea is easier to find again.
