Is this job offer a scam?
I've been looking for work for ages and someone named Kate has just phoned me for a customer service/marketing position with PGT consultants in Cardiff. However I don't remember applying for the job (but I've applied for at least 20 a week and don't keep track) and can't find any company information online. She wouldn't really tell me about the role or the company and told me it would all be covered in the interview :s

I've seen so many scams on here and I'm really hoping this isn't one - does anyone have any experience of this?

Did she call you on a known number or was it private?

    Scam, kinda.

We know there is a lady called Kate who wants to meet you.

If she wants to meet you then there is presumably a company space in which to meet.

And unless she wants to kidnap you and hold you to ransom then it seems likely that they are indeed canvassing for workers.

I suspect that there is a job, but it most probably involves cold-calling under the name of some dodgy company..

hm, just found a website for them which mentions face-to-face marketing. I'm thinking cold-calling too. Damn.

It will probably be one of those 'marketing' jobs that ends up being door to door sales. There are always loads advertised under various company names and job titles

Don't take them, its essentially those jobs where your earnings are based on how much you make, and there's no set hours, so you could be working for a long time and getting paid very little..........i recall their being a panorama story on it.

I know this is OT, but I really don't understand why you write '#yolo'. Are you egging her on to go for it, despite the possible negative repercussions? Or is this just a new fad on the internet?
