German marketing and communications apprenticeship - moving to UK
My boyfriend and I live in Munich, Germany. In an educational system similar to Britain's pre-comprehensive system, the majority of students do an apprenticeship. My boyfriend is doing an apprenticeship in marketing and communications. It is two to three years long and he works in an up-and-coming digital marketing and advertising agency alongside block release at a Berufschule (professional school). He is doing really well and has already been on a couple of business trips up to important fairs and has taken a fair level of responsibility on projects. My question is this: when we move back to Britain, probably a couple of years after his apprenticeship has finished after he has gained some experience as a proper employee, will he be disadvantaged because of a lack of a degree? Or if he has an apprenticeship plus a couple of years' experience in a role with a fair level of experience e.g. Junior Project Manager, will this not matter any more? I think the only other thing is he needs to improve his English - his spoken English is excellent, but his writing is lagging behind.
Thanks. Hearing from any Germans who have made this leap would also be great too!
