Clearing Confusion~
I am almost certain that I will have to go into clearing when I get my A-level results so I am trying to get as much information as I can now! At least this way I will hopefully already be prepared for the worst.
Anyway, these are my main questions. If someone could give me some answers I would be eternally grateful!!
- If I'm not accepted into a uni because I didn't make the grades can I still apply for the same course at the same uni through clearing?
- Do all universities offer clearing?
- Are grade boundaries lowered for clearing?
Feel free to ask your own questions here. Obviously I don't know much about clearing but I'm sure other people can answer any questions too.

Re: Clearing Confusion~Well if you meet your insurance's grades, you have to ask them to let you go so you can enter the clearing process and yes you can try the same course and same uni in clearing, but that's if they are in clearing.(Original post by taramonster)

No, not all, it all depends on who makes their conditional, depending on the spaces they are most likely to enter clearing, though some of the much more reputable uni's who are usually full, will have a few spaces but for adjustment.
Generally they are but on the first day it's usually 20 points, over the next week if places aren't filled sometimes they drop 60 points or so, which is entirely dependent on the uni.
Though there have been cases where uni's take advantage and ask for much higher requirements than normal conditional offers.

Re: Clearing Confusion~You can, but there's very little point. The university will have had your results for the better part of a week by the time you know them, and they will have already considered whether to take you or not. If they've rejected you, it's far more time efficient to move onto other courses.(Original post by taramonster)

Unless you mean applying for universities that didn't make you an offer because your predicted grades weren't high enough? If it's now the case that you've met them, then you can apply again in Clearing.
No. In order for a course to be in Clearing, it has to have spaces that haven't been filled.Do all universities offer clearing?
Sometimes, sometimes not - it all depends upon how competitive the university thinks that course is in Clearing. Are grade boundaries lowered for clearing? -

I'm applying for archaeology at Leicester which is my firm and they want a BBB. Bristol is my insurance choice and they want BBC.
I didn't think this would be a problem for me at all but after my biology exam I'm worried I might be one grade too low.

Re: Clearing Confusion~You should be fine, doesn't seem like a high intake course considering the entry requirements.(Original post by taramonster)

Though you should email them about your concerns, they will actually reply to you

Re: Clearing Confusion~I'm afraid nobody will know on here. I doubt the admissions tutors will know until they get the results on the Sunday before you do, so they can see how many people missed their offers. Anybody saying otherwise can only be guessing. Even if they were in clearing last year, it doesn't mean they will be in this year. Sorry, but you can only wait and see.(Original post by lizzic)
