    Out of date asthma inhaler?
I have a salamol reliever asthma inhaler (the blue one). I have asthma very rarely, but in the last hour I've become very tight chested and I'm struggling to breathe properly.
Would it be dangerous/harmful to use my inhaler considering its expiry date is2010? :/

I will obviously get a new one and not use it repeatedly, but as a one off would it be ok?

    Thanks

Pretty sure I've used one of mine that has expired, in the past. And it did no damage at all, just go for it

It probably just won't be as effective as it would have been if it were in date.

If it expired two years ago you really shouldn't use it. The drugs may have broken down and become toxic. It might do you more harm then good. See if you can find an open pharmacy and go there with a copy of your repeat prescription or your inhaler with the label etc, they might be able to give you an emergency supply. Or phone your out of hours dr or go to A&E
