Blood in spit / red spots back of throat
Since Christmas last year, I have had these red spots in the back of my throat. Prior to that, I had had a very sore throat and my voice got very deep. The symptoms with my throat cleared within a week, but these red spots remained. They didn't bother me at all, but I had a lot of mucus building up in my throat and I had to regularly clear that up.

Now in June, I decided to visit the doctor. He looked inside my throat and said it was nothing serious and also checked my nose, again nothing. I said I have had this for many months and he said it could be an infection but probably would need blood tests to check.

Anyhow, I was busy so I never got the blood tests. Just before the doctor I had noticed occasional (very light) amounts of blood in my saliva, but NOT inside the mucus. Since coming back from uni, the blood in my saliva has, very gradually, got worse. Its very light, and looks quite dull in colour. Its used to be barely noticeable but now it is more noticeable.

Does anyone know what I could have? I know I should visit the doctor but I've been busy etc so was just curious if anyone had similar issues. The blood from spit happens regardless of what I eat/ drink and BEFORE I brush teeth so its not gum/teeth or mouth related. I don't have any other symptoms that I know off.

It may just be a sinus infection, but you should really go to see your doctor to rule out any more sinister problems associated with hemoptysis. If its an infection, it should normally be cleared up by antibiotics. The blood test will only take a few minutes, and it isn't painful, they only take a little vial.
