    Lying about withdrawing from course......?
OK, so this is probably very wrong and may potentially be found out but I'm going to suspend my uni studies for a year to get a job/work and worry that my application may be instantly rejected if they see from my CV (of find out at the interview, if I get to that far) that I'm only available to work for 1 year as most employers will probably be looking for people who are going to be with them in the long run. Whereas, if I put that I've withdrawn, they're more likely to believe that I'm in it for the long-term and thus may be more likely to employ me.......would anyone like to share their thoughts on this?

What year are you in? I'm not sure how it might work out, but many people do a one year placement after there 2nd year at university, which is essentially what you're describing. Lots of big companies offer placement schemes specifically designed for this one year period. Perhaps speak to your universities undergraduate office and see if you can do this on your course (you'll likely need their support to secure a placement).

Thanks for your post. I'm not sure this would be possible since I'm in first year but I'm looking for a general job not related to my course rather than a work placement.

Placements are available in a wide variety of areas, they don't have to be particularly related to your course. It essentially is just a regular job, you work full time and you get paid for it. However a placement with a big company is going to look a lot better on your cv then a regular minimum wage kind of job, so definitely give it some thought!

Ah, I didn't realise that. Thank you so much for letting me know. I'll definitely look into it!
