Marketing degree or apprenticeship?
I can't decide between a degree or apprenticeship in Marketing. The apprenticeship I am interested in is perfect for me however to get a good job in a few years time will I need a degree? My gut feeling is that I will do an apprenticeship and end up going to uni in a few years to get a degree anyway. Can anyone offer any sort of advice?? Much appreciated

Re: Marketing degree or apprenticeship?Hi. If you can get an apprenticeship I would wholeheartedly recommend it. I got into PR and Marketing through an apprenticeship (even though I did A levels) and have found it really interesting. You can always ask them to fund future qualifications (such as CIM qualifications) if you do well, too.(Original post by iamkeeley)

Thanks! I've just finished my A levels too and an apprenticeship I applied for closed today so hopefully something good will come of it. I suppose I can even do a degree next year after the apprenticeship if things don't work out. Are you still working with the company?(Original post by inksplodge)

It's great fun, and as you said you can always do a degree the year after if it isn't your thing! One of the girls on my course is being funded by her company to do a degree with the local college, so that may always be an option for you too

Re: Marketing degree or apprenticeship?
Hey guys
When it comes to marketing, the cream rises to the top, whether you have a degree or not. My degree wasn't even related to marketing and I'm proving to be a successful marketer. Marketing is a results based industry and no degree will get you promoted over a non-graduate who is performing better. You'll learn a lot at University (like my work friends did) but with marketing most of what you learn will be obsolete within 5 years of completing your degree. That's because the digital age of marketing is evolving so fast that even the education authorities can't keep up.
There are some really good companies that offer really solid training in this area but there are a lot of scams to so beware.
DM me if you want more info about Marketing, i have a few ebooks that i can forward.
Hope this helped
