Is it bad to use TV characters as examples in exams?

So, for my Religious Studies Unit 1 exam, I used TV characters for example for my answers. For example, there was one six mark question stating that marriage was the best way to start a family and I basically disagreed with the statement and wrote that the parents of Rory Gilmore in 'Gilmore Girls' weren't married but she was still able to have a happy childhood. I also wrote that the Lohans (Lindsay Lohan's parents) were married but their family life was incredibly chaotic and this basically showed that marriage isn't always the best way to start a family, as the couple's arguments can lead to a negative atmosphere within the home and have a damaging effect on the kids. I also wrote very quickly that there was no official statistic showing that marriage was the best way to start a family
Also, I wrote that Roman Catholics would actually agree with this statement as they believe that family life would be better as the parents are committed to each other and therefore more committed to the family. I used Tanya and Max Branning in 'Eastenders' to make up the point.
At the end of the day, I was rushing and I had to complete all the questions. -

Why not?
The premise of what you wrote though seems fairly legitimate. -
I'm late yeah, but it looks like you took the edexcel rs course, and tbh, they don't penalise you for mentioning tv shows. In fact, they'd rather you use tv shows to explain your point of view rather than just staiting it, and as long as the references are relevant, which they are, you should be fine
