What is the salary of an actuary?
Just generally can you tell me the starting salaries up to senior level salaries i.e. after completing your examinations.

Also, how long do the examinations take to complete/train for normally?

can expect to start at around 30k. how you do after that depends on how good you are. It's not unheard of for actuaries to be earning 100+.
3-5 years for the exams usually (depending on exemptions and keenness)

If you're in london I would put the figures at:

    Training 27-35k Graduate

    Newly qualified 60-80k 3-5 years

    senior 100k+ 5-10 years

    partner 200k+ 10 yrs +

The timescales are obviously if you work really hard and are not guarenteed and are based on my experience working in consulting. Salaries for insurance companies are usually lower and obviously the partner section would then not be valid. Also, while you are qualifying you will get pay rises for passing exams as well.

no one has yet mentioned that the majority of the work is painfully boring . I'm just going on what I've heard, though, so I could be wrong

Well when I was working over the summer I didn't find the work boring but you do have to have an interest in maths, economics and finance. I think anyone would find a job boring if they were doing it for the money rather than because they were interested in it. It depends what kind of person you are.

You're kidding, right? 30k monthly is a ridiculous sum of money. That's over a 300,000 salary...
