Best foundations for very pale skin?
I have very pale and very oily skin, and the majority of foundations I've tried have been too dark even in the lightest shade. The best one I have right now is Revlon Colorstay in Ivory, but that doesn't blend very well so I'm looking for a better one.

I also have MAC Studio Fix foundation in NC15, the lightest shade they do. It blends very well and gives good coverage but even that is slightly too dark. If they did an NC10 shade that would be perfect.

I have the same problem as you
I've always wanted to try MAC's foundation but when I tested NC15 once it was too dark for me.
The only foundation I've found that is ok with my skin tone is Bare Escentuals/Bare Minerals in Fair, however it's a powder which I don't always like.
Have you tried Nicola Roberts Dainty Doll foundations? I want to try them when my current foundation runs out

I have pale skin and I use Estee Lauder Double Wear in 1C1 Shell. It's very light.
Bobbi Brown foundations in Alabastar are very light too!

Someone else asked this question and this is the response that I gave. I'm too tired/lazy/hungover to retype it, hope you don't mind.

I'm very pale too, and have combination/oily skin. These are all the foundations I've tried (and liked!) so far, and they've all been a fairly good colour match:

Make Up For Ever Mat Velvet+ in 15 (my current favourite!)
Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation in Alabaster or Porcelain
    NARS Sheer Glow in Siberia
    MAC Matchmaster in shade 1.0

For a cheaper option I really like Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum (in shade 51), but have to mix it with a white foundation to lighten it up a bit. I mix mine with Illamasqua Skinbase in white, but I've heard Barry M do a cheap-ish white foundation that's meant to be good too.

Illamasqua do a lot of pale shades, but for some reason my skin just doesn't get on with them very well. I'm not sure why. They're having a sale at the moment, and there are a few of the really fair foundations on there for £10, e.g. Light Liquid Foundation in 115.

Thank you! Where did you get the Make Up For Ever foundation from?

I find Max Factor Lasting Performance in 01 Fair to be very light. Compared to the lightest shade of foundation offered by other high street brands, anyway.

Try Illamsqua, they have the most super pale foundation shades I have ever seen.

I second the Double Wear, I also wear it in 1C1. I think YSL have a really good colour range too, they're doing samples of the new Teint Touch Eclat foundation and I automatically thought I'd be the palest, but I wasn't so they must go pretty pale. Also try Illamasqua, they have a sale on right now and I'm sure I saw some foundations in there!

Have you tried Bobbi Brown's Alabaster? I've not been able to find a lighter foundation yet. :P

Yep, If you're devoted to the particular BB foundation, you could buy a white foundation to lighten Porcelain? Illamasqua do one, as do Face Atelier, and I believe Barry M do one too. Not ideal though, I know!

It's terrible news, isn't it? I'm almost tempted to go and stock up on Alabaster...like some sort of make-up/nuclear war bunker. I've tried Illamasqua's white foundation to lighten up other darker shades but it didn't work very well - it did make them lighter but they looked funny when applied on, kind of pasty and then flaky after a couple of hours...will have a look at those other brands you mention!

I swear I really don't get why there aren't really light foundations around (not your average "Ivory" which is looks just about as ivory as my oak dining table...), surely women in, say, Northern Europe, need it? Argh, it's a hard life...

go into a department store like debenhams or john lewis and go to all the different make up counters until you find a foundation that matches but I think you should try clinque

I want to try the illamasqua rich liquid foundation but I have no idea what colour to get and there is no counter anywhere near me. I was matched to number 7 of the skin base foundation when I was visiting a friend, I just went on the website assuming the colour system would be the same for the rich liquid one but its completly different and theres so many less colours, urghh.

In my experience, their customer service are usually very helpful. I'd drop them an email, tell them you're shade 7 in skin base and ask what it would convert to in rich liquid
