Hi all, I applied for history at Lancaster and was offered AAB.

Although this is possible, I believe ABB is more realistic! With the reduction in applicants to universities do you think they may accept ABB?

    Thanks all

First of all, well done for getting an offer and I hope you get AAB on your results day. If not then, I am sure many people will also miss their offer and you might want to contact and ask them if they are lenient in their offers. If not, you will get in through clearing.

Thanks for the reply, so if I get an unsuccessful application (touch wood I won't!) I could apply to Lancaster in clearing?

Usually Lancaster are quite lenient with their grade boundaries and allowances. For example, the grade requirement for Law dropped down to as low as ABB when the standard offer was AAA (if I remember correctly from last year). However, I'm not sure if this is the same for History.

It's really difficult to say - it would depend totally on how other people have done and how many places they have this year. Applications have actually gone up for Lancs this year so I don't think that will be a factor unfortunately, and Lancaster last year had a no clearing policy - they didn't enter any courses into clearing - but I'm not sure if it'll be the same this year. However, one of my friends last year missed a grade and was offered History and Politics, with the option to drop Politics at the end of first year, so maybe be prepared for something like that to happen. Good luck, anyway - I hope you get in
