Nokia Lumia 710
Currently thinking of getting a new phone as phone at the moment sucks balls with bad call quality and signal. At the time it was a good deal but now it's not worth it.
Looking for a phone where I can access e-mails with relative ease as I'm on the move a lot and e-mails become really important. Good call quality is very important and a decent mp3 player.
The Lumia 710 looks quite good and it's affordable on the Tesco price plans. I was wondering if anybody has one or experience with one and could tell me whether it's worth it? If not, any appropriate suggestions would be really helpful.
Cheers. -
Re: Nokia Lumia 710I'm surprised by the fact that you're going with a windows phone despite the fact that there's a host of capable and cheap Android devices out there. Regardless, it's still a good choice. I'd recommend a Nokia Lumia 800 over the 710 just purely from a design point of view. The 710 is a pretty ugly piece of hardware.(Original post by Irrelevance)

If you're looking at something in the same price bracket, I'd also recommend something similar to a Samsung Galaxy S2 which was last year's flagship Android device and currently reasonably priced due to recent releases from Samsung. A HTC Sensation would also go down quite well.
That said, I still commend your choice on Windows Phone, you'd certainly be pleased with a Lumia 800, it's far more durable and design forward. -

Will have a look at the S2, thanks for the post.

Put it this way, there are three different phone types: Apple's iPhone, phones that run Google's Android, and phones that run Microsoft's Windows Phone. All three would offer you email on the go and decent call quality (on a premium level) so you've got nothing to worry about. It simply comes down to preference.
The Samsung Galaxy S2 and Samsung Galaxy Nexus that both run Android are very capable devices that were (and arguably still are) hugely popular.
Here's a Nexus and S2 running android side by side:

Here's an example of the Nokia Lumia device range:

If you've got any questions over the difference between the two, I suggest you type it into YouTube and just watch a review of it, i.e. 'Samsung Galaxy Nexus review'. It'll give you a good overview of what the phone looks like and how it responds. -
Re: Nokia Lumia 710
The Lumia 710 has limited space compared to other phones, 8GB. If that's an issue, the 800 has 16. The only other difference between the two beside space and some difference with outer appearance, is the camera- it is 5MP on the 710 and 8MP on the 800. So they are the only two reasons for the price difference between them, they run the same otherwise. I have the 800 and I would highly recommend it and the 710. You CAN get android's cheaper, it depends really on whether you prefer the look of wp7. It's very fast and capable.

This is what your menu will look like, vastly different to what ios and android look like. You can pin loads of email accounts to it, it will show the number of new emails beside it, as well as the same notification on the startscreen- it uses different icons so you know what account it refers too. Very handy. Zune and Nokia Music are brilliant music applications. itunes files are easily sorted into zune, it's very user friendly. Nokia music is much the same on the phone as zune, just looks a bit snazzier. You can pin albums, songs and playlists as livetiles to the menu too. It's worth checking out to see if it appeals more to you.
Will have a look at the S2, thanks for the post.
