Imagine this
Imagine, you are in a house that is on fire. The exit is blocked by fire and destruction, you're panicking to find a way out, the fire stops you from getting out. Its spreading quickly, everywhere you look is tinted a yellowish orange because of the fire.
You're so desperate to get away from the fire, you run into the nearest room. You close the door to try and separate you from the fire. you are in a room with no windows, trapped, your heart is pounding. Youre alone in the room. No one from the house can help you. The smoke is still entering the room as you watch the door catch fire. So much smoke has entered that you are struggling to breathe in clean air because of this, the room gets dark because of the dense black smoke, you can barely see anything, your vision gets blurry. Youre coughing hard and repeatedly, youre scared, you can feel the intense heat and the sound of everything burning as the door collapses and the fire enters. Youre breathed in so much smoke, everything gets even darker, you faint.
Not knowing how long it has been, you slowly wake up, you're moving but not because of your legs/hands... You look up and you're in the arms of a masked firefighter as you're dragged through the house. You're too weak to walk, so you have to rely on the firefighter dragging you in order to get out of the house. Your vision is still blurred slightly, you can see the damage the fire is doing as you're being dragged. Parts of the ceiling collapse. A huge noise is made, you're terrified. Youre too dazed too confused to think. You can feel the scorching heat.
The fire fighter manages to pull you out of the house where you can see all your family/pets etc under care. You're safely out of the house. The firefighter lays you down, pulls the mask off. It's a woman and she says you're going to be alright. You get taken to hospital where after a long time, you make a full recovery along with your family.
Getting discharged the next day, you leave the building with your family and see a woman in a firefighter suit, it's the person who saved you. You begin to talk with her.
Do you have any thoughts about the fact that you were saved by a woman?
Spoiler:Showsaw a good ol documentary on bbc3, and found out there is actually a prejudice regarding women firefighters. This surprised me, if I were in trouble, I wouldn't care whether it were a man or woman, just that they were able to save my fat ass if I were in trouble. The main thing on my mind would be to get away to a safe place. so I made this thread to see other peoples reactions... Only 4% of firefighters in the uk are women, it's a rare sight, but how would you feel if you saw one.Last edited by Dmon1Unlimited; 20-07-2012 at 08:16.
