    January Start Date
The Access to Higher Education course I'm interested in offers two starting dates: one in September and one in January. If I started the Access course in January 2013, what would happen in regards to university? Would I apply to attend the same year in September or the following year in September 2014?

    Cheers

It depends on the finish date of the January start Access course. If you finish and get your results prior to A level results publication, it would be viable for you to apply to start university in September 2013. But you would need to be ready to submit your UCAS app immediately, to beat the UCAS deadline for equal consideration for non Oxbridge applications.

If your Access results come out after the A level results, if you needed to use clearing, there may not be much choice left. You would probably be better off to apply in the 2013 UCAS cycle to start in 2014.
