So why is the question "What came first, the chicken or the egg?" still open to debate? Everyone knows that life has to start at the beginning, even we come from eggs.
So of course the egg must've come first - its pretty much indisputable. Right?

The genetic makeup for the first evolved chicken had to have been contained within an egg.

The thing which gave birth to that egg, was not a chicken.

Neither came first, there was an ancestor of the chicken which gradually evolved into the chicken, at some point the chicken was labelled a chicken by man. Now, which chicken was the first "chicken", was it the first chicken seen by the person who named the chicken or the first chicken seen by a human being after the official labelling of the chicken as a chicken. An egg came out of a chicken at some point. But who was chicken?
