What to study?I'm sure this question comes up a lot so I'm sorry but I'm really not sure what to study at Uni and I have to apply this year! Does anyone know any good quizzes or similar methods to help me choose? Please feel free to ask any questions, I need help as my family(god love them) are useless!

What subjects do you enjoy? I study History, German, Biology and Chemistry. I wish I had taken English lit. I love History but there is not really a career other than teaching that can come of that. I do enjoy writing, music, movies, travelling and reading.

You could do History joint honours with something that will make you more employable, e.g. History and German. -

Re: What to study?This is a really difficult question for anyone other than you to answer tbh. It might be worth getting a few prospectuses (or go to your local library where they'll have tonnes) and just looking through the various courses that are available at a handful of the bigger universities. Ignore the grades they ask for but have a look at any subject requirements so you can rule out subjects that you don't have the right A levels for.

Why do you wish you'd taken english lit?
What films do you like? what books? are there any topics that you'll go out of your way to watch a documentary/tv programme about?

It's been a while since I was 16/17 and applying to uni but I do remember very clearly that my ideas and understanding of jobs was completely rubbish. Don't rule out a course just because you can't imagine what you will do with it once you finish. Try to remember that 3/4 years ago the person you were would have been unable to really imagine who you are now - the same is true (even more so) of who you will be when you finish your degree. Especially when you consider that you'll also have left home, lived independently, made a whole new set of friends, managed your own finances, managed a demanding workload and developed a whole new way of studying - not to mention had all sorts of new experiences.
In other words if you think you have the interest, enthusiasm and ability to succeed on a history degree then go for it.
Like I said at the top of this post - you need to figure this out for yourself. Do some reading around, look at prospectuses, goto open days, talk to your teachers, if you want to then bounce ideas off this thread.
