What universities accept 37 IB points?
    Hello !

Have a question regarding IB and universities. What universities accept 37 IB points?

Anyone with 37 ib points or a similar grades who have been accepted to a "good" or Top university?

I have looked at some universities requirements and it seems like the top universities require more then 37 IB points.

most universities accept lower points, but top unis like oxbride wont settle for below 40, most of their offers are 40-42 with a 766-776 at HL.. imperial asks for 38+.. but ucl is also a top university that accepts students to some courses with 34-38 points, like chemistry, architecture, etc.. depends on what you want to do
    what r ur subjects?

Go onto the UCAS website and into the course search, do some searching on there for the types of courses you're interested in and find out the entry requirements for yourself. People on TSR can help you when you've got beyond the initial research stage but right now you're asking people to do all of the work for you - there's no point me telling you that yes, you can go to university Y to study X with 37 IB points if you're actually really interested in A and have zero interest (or the HL subjects) in the X courses that I've mentioned.

You need to focus on narrowing down your course choice in the first instance, forget about the actual university as a university defined as "good" for one thing might actually be "poor" for something else and vice versa.

Generally, most universities will take you with 37 points. It depends on your HL grades. What are you HL grades? Edinburgh will often only want 5,5,5 for HL which is very very generous, York/Warwick want 6/6/6 and I've seen Cambridge offers with 7/7/7. Generally Oxbridge offers are 38+ (though I have seen one for biological sciences at Oxford at 37) and a lot of the London offers are 38+ (but not all - again I know people at UCL/Imperial who scored less). A lot of places will want higher for medicine unfortunatley (but again not all, I think HYMS and Peninsula want a little less)

    ucl,manchester,sheffield,oxford (38-40, usually), cambridge (40-42, usually)

Regardless, 37 is a good score and you won't have too much trouble finding a good uni.

Re: What universities accept 37 IB points?
UCL gave me an offer for 34 ib points with 5 5 5 HL, SOAS gave me 32, Edinburgh gave me 34, 5 5 5 and Glasgow gave me 34. I chose to go to York though, which gave me an offer of 35 points overall.

These are just examples. All of the above are either g1, Russell Group or 1994 so are considered by many to be respectable universities. However this depends on your idea of a good uni. Oxbridge asks for 38 as a a minimum and generally expects 7's from it's prospective students at HL. So if you have your heart set on going there, you might be better of getting yourself that extra point. However, any of the other top universities will most likely consider you with 37 points (although some will ask for specific HL grades).

Also, I'm sure you know some degrees are much more competitive than others. Many universities ask 38+ for medicine, law, english etc.. Other courses have lower entry requirements. Occasionally universities will offer a foundation/access course with much lower entry requirements, although obviously this adds and extra year to your degree, and furthermore may not be open to you...

One last thing to remember, this is just for undergraduate admissions. Once you've got your degree, your IB score won't really matter. Work hard a get a 2:1 or even a 1st and you'll pretty much have your pick of the world's top universities, assuming the rest of your application is up to scratch.

Yeah, it really depends on the course. Life science courses ask for 35-37 with 6s in sciences.
