Don't really know how to explain it. Perhaps I used the wrong word. I want to become strong but borderline with gymnastic and parkour types of exercises. Overall I want to get better at everything. Strength, endurance, power, flexibility, speed etc.
Jack of all trades and master of none?

You can build the endurance of a beast doing this training, but not necessarily fuctional real world strength.

For example, I know a guy who can do 100 good form pushups in a row, but can't bench press his own body weight.

Still would never rule body weight exercises out of a workout routine though, they are very useful.

EDIT: Fuaaark, gonna try some muscle ups when I next go down to the park!

I doubt he is doing them with good form then lol. Chest to floor. 90 degrees push-ups will artificially inflate numbers. But yeah, number of push-ups does not correlate with benching max. Well, it might up to a certain point, but only low rep numbers.

There are two ways to be good at push-ups.

    1) Build up the strength endurance, i.e. be able to exert the same force over and over again without getting tired.

    2) Build up max strength, i.e. if you can bench more, then bodyweight push-ups will feel ridiculously easy, meaning you will do more.

What I mean to say is, I'd doubt someone would get to 100 simply off endurance, unless it's with bad form. You'd need to be strong too.
Oh yeah he's strong and fit, he's a military guy so it's all push ups and situps with them. Good form on the first 60 or so, after that it becomes....questionable lol.

I noticed in training that doing pushups and situps in high reps like that also takes it out of you cardio wise, which could be why a few of the big strong guys I know can only do 20-30 pushups, but have a massive bench.

Still love bodyweight work though, sometimes it's good to just go outside and thrash yourself.

It's quite possible to build strength on barbell lifts with bodyweight stuff. You just have to be a bit more creative/patient in working on harder skills like front levers, planches and the like instead of just trying to rep the hell out of more 'normal' skills like pushups/dips/chins.

Nice. I can't tell from that angle properly, but I think you should be pushing your knees out more, not sure they're tracking over your toes properly.

Perfect muscle-up today (no legs). About 50x harder (literally) than kipping, but got there eventually.

Really want to learn the Planche. I've always wanted to learn it because it looks awesome. Going to start seriously now. Never thought I'd ever get around to it but it feels a realistic goal now.

Can do Tuck Planche for about 10s but going to do the basic stuff first and build up. Won't happen overnight and don't wanna get injured.

If someone can do push-ups in a planche position, they generally have the strength to do a 2*bodyweight bench without ever training it. That stat has been true in quite a lot of gymnasts and people in general who can do them. I'll set the record straight with that stat when the time comes (not anytime soon).

Not really. I don't think I'd ever get into that as a sport. Some aspects/moves of gymnastics interest me though, like the above move (planche). I'd much rather learn a move like that than increase a certain lift, and still be gaining a decent amount of strength in the process. It's more fun for me I guess

New Weighted Chin PB *** yes
    55kg @ 70kg BW

    -30kg belt, 25kg bag

First time testing this since March. Been doing explosive bodyweight stuff etc past few months, and the carry-over effect has been quite surprising

Aha thanks... been slacking this month though. As of Monday no more lazing around. I'll start the 20pullups program again

I can do tuck planche push-ups but full planche push-ups are very advanced. Gotta get to a planche first which is advanced enough, so maybe in 2 years!!

Yes they are advanced but you're well on your way. I say get started with basic gymnastics!
