    Writers block!
Well I've played around with song writing for a few years but never really put anything together properly and just left them as ideas.
So this summer I've set myself a challenge to write 1 or 2 songs each month if I can!

But obviously for any writer it's horrible when writers block turns up. I was just wondering if you guys have any ways of getting over it?
    Maybe take a break?
    Look for other inspiration etc?

I think it largely depends on what works for you personally and what kinds of songs you are writing. Maybe it'd be a good idea to take some photographs or watch a movie on your chosen topic. Sometimes this can spark new ideas.

If I ever get writers block I just get away from writing for a while and search for new experiences that I can write about, maybe give yourself a few days just to go out and live a little to find inspiration, also, maybe carry around a notepad so you can jot down random ideas at any time

I've seen a friend going around at college and out in the day, writing stuff they see and stuff that pops into their head?
Thought that was a really cool way of doing it and they filled the notepad completely!

Hey, I myself have never experience writer's block, and some writers I've spoken to say it doesn't exist, however, there are days when we feel less inspired than others, and it's human nature then to give up.
However, in my experience, it can be helpful to do some other writing tasks (writing anything that pops in to your head for 2 minutes without stopping) or starting a piece with "I remember" and writing for 30 seconds, to warm up.
Also, there are tons of workshops online that could help (The Young Poets' Network is great for things like that!)
I run a blog called awritershead and it can be found
here - the current second post down is entitled 'Stuck with Writing' which I reblogged from somebody else- it might be worth checking out.
Don't push yourself to write, it'll come.

'If it's not hard, it's not worth doing', you'll get there xxx

Push through it. Keep writing even if its just junk. The point is that writer's block can quickly extend and extend until suddenly you're just not a writer anymore but just someone who thinks about writing sometime or other. There is a tendency for people to put off writing until they feel just right and often people have things like 'I'll write when I have time, or my new pen, or my new guitar or when its sunny or when my lucky socks are out of the wash... It doesn't matter what the specifics are, everyone experiences the 'I'll write when....' syndrome and usually that's because the mind is coming up with excuses.

At the point where you don't know what you want to write and continue anyway the mind can switch over into creativity rather than being stuck in thinking too hard. So keep going whatever even if you find yourself writing 'old macdonald has a farm.....' one day.... writing and creating in itself gathers momentum through the act of doing rather than thinking and waiting so do something every day and exercise those creative muscles until they become really strong!

    Good luck

It helps to try and write daily, even if you know it's not great work. Carry a pen and some paper with you wherever you go. Weird **** happens all the time, so it's good to give yourself the chance to capture the moment.

Totally agree! Capturing the moment is always the best way to write something original and clever.
