Open the envelope in the car or at home, but I guess that would kill the spirit.

You won't be known as the kid who cried. Some people will always cry. Then again, I did go to a girls' school, it was more acceptable.

Take the envelope to some corner where you can have a bit of privacy, or maybe just near close friends. Then you have a moment to gain composure if you need it. Good luck!

Lol, i'm the kid that cried, because i opened my results, and saw "maths U" but, as my RS teacher informed me five mins later, i actually got an A, and just failed one unit, haha, sooo embarressing!

Make sure you understand your results before you worry and get upset, or does that go without saying to the less-retarded of us? hahaaha

If you cry over GCSEs you need to focus one something else in your life other than school

There was a "kid that cried" at my college, she opened her envelope with her friends and cried out "I'VE FAILED EVERYTHING" and everyone, including the tutors giving out the envelopes, laughed. Poor girl.
Just don't make a show of it, go somewhere quiet, look at your results and make no reaction. Pretend you haven't opened if you don't like them, celebrate if you're happy.

just open it at home, everyone who does otherwise is insane. I know... I'm a party pooper...

Alternatively you could get a friend to open the envelope for you whilst you open their envelope. Actually, I think that just made it a whole lot worse lol.

    Good luck anyway

Always remember every cloud has a silver lining and as long as you work hard, you will get places. Life doesn't turn out trumps all the time I'm afraid, just don't give up. :excited:

Tbh, I handle disappointment based on self-evaluation beforehand of how hard I worked.
So if I know I worked hard for those grades, I won't be too scared about being disappointed, but if I know I didn't work that hard I'll expect the worse.

I was on holiday when my gcse results came out so I don't really know, as others said, personally I would open them privately before deciding to share what I got with my friends.
