    hello, chemistry hopeful!
hello, my name is Lauren and I'm brand new here! I already love it, and I hope to see much more of you all. I'm mainly interested in the chemistry forums, as well as general uni ones. I've applied for a place at heriot watt (firm) and strathclyde (insurance), and I'm from Scotland. I hope to talk to you all soon!

very nice! do you have any course books you would recommend? I'm not sure if you're familiar with the Scottish system but highers (which I've just done) are about the same level as AS levels, and I'm starting a course in August that's the equivalent to A levels before I go to uni, and I was looking for some prereading! (I put this in a separate thread but had no replies) Any ideas of where you'd like to apply? And thanks! just need to keep my fingers crossed for the results though.

So you're starting advanced highers in August? and sorry, I'm confused...do you have your higher results already? so you've already got a conditional offer at Heriot Watt and Strathclyde? I was thinking of reading some oxford chemistry primers (http://www.oup.com/us/catalog/genera...mers/?view=usa) they're undergraduate level so since you're starting AH and I'm doing A2 they seem to be reasonable

it's a one year college course that's the equivalent (the dont run the AH at my school) and no, I have the conditionals, and the AABB/ABBB are my conditional offers! SQA results are out on 7th August, just hope I meet my conditions! And brilliant, I'll have a wee look at those!

I'm exactly the same with the English system, can't believe how different they are! and I know, I'd hate to have to wait as long as you guys do! Thank you, and same to you. I hope to speak to you again soon!
    Lauren.
