Physics, Geography or English for Medicine?
I have chosen Maths, Chemistry, Biology and English Literature provisionally. I want to study Medicine and all my teachers have asked why I'm not doing Physics because apparently medical schools like it (I know it's not required), and that they'd prefer it to an essay subject because it would show I'm interested in all areas of science.

I also like the look of A-Level Geography as I enjoyed the GCSE. I don't know which subject out of Physics, Geography and English I'd prefer, because I like them all equally. Which is the best to take?

    Thanks

Have a deeper look into each A-Level and consider which is for you: whichever you think you will enjoy more do that.
I have done AS Physics and English Lit, so I will say a bit about each. Firstly, are you planning on going with all 4 at A2? If so, you need to know now that A2 English has closed-book exams, so you have to learn key quotes (but aren't expected to quote excessively and flawlessly-they understand it is difficult). English is generally enjoyable if you like reading (which I assume you do-if you don't like reading forget it) especially if you study interesting books. Personally for me English is the subject I find hardest (from maths, F.Maths, Psych, Phys, Chem, Eng Lit) because while I am good at it, I don't have the natural flare like I do for science (I'm currently worried i might even get a B )
Regarding physics, you have to be comfortable with maths, but if you are then the sums won't trouble you too much, especially at AS. More important is a logical, problem-solving mind. If you have ever done any problem solving tests (like the UKMT Maths challenge for example) and done well, physics should be fairly fine for you.Being able to understand the physics is important because there are also some qualitative (written) questions that really stretch you in a way that biology and chemistry do not (they are more fact-based than problem based).

To conclude: Choose what you think you will like best: look at the books you will study, the modules on your physics course and also consider the A2 syllabus if you are thinking of taking it that far.

Physics won't give you any advantage when applying for medicine. In fact, neither will Maths unless you're applying to Cambridge. Pick whichever ones you enjoy and are most likely to get an A in.

Well physics is not bad: it explains the behaviour of the particles that comprise all matter, it makes possible the electronic circuits that build our world and the mechanical motors that drive our cars, it supplies our energy, it unveils the power of mathematical truths and peers deep into the fabric of the cosmos.

So yeah, could be worth a shot.

As long as you have chemistry and biology, your options are fine for medicine, so none of the subjects you have listed will give you an advantage or disadvantage when applying. Do the one you think is the most interesting and which you think you are most likely to do well in

As long as you have Biology and Chemistry, most medical schools won't mind what your other options are. Some want another science (maths is included in this), so again your fine. As for taking physics as well, it's not at all necessary, and actually some medical schools prefer a contrasting subject (UCL and Peninsula). Other than that, it just depends on your grades, so pick ones that you think you can get good grades in and that you enjoy.
