    Pharmacy summer placement
I know most pharmacies organize the summer placement for a period of 6 weeks (maybe only Boots does it for 8 weeks) So, does anyone know how many hours/wk you are meant to do, or is it full time (just as a normal Mon - Fri job)?
I'll be applying for next year's but I'm currently working - not at a pharmacy though. And I'm not too sure if I would get that much period off

I'm doing a two week unpaid placement with a major supermarket pharmacy, which I got by asking the main pharmacist there. It's the one designed for school kids who are trying to decide their future study plans, but as I'm older and the pharmacist (and team) I'm working with are really enthusiastic and helpful, I'm helping dispense, deal with deliveries and getting taught procedures and the business/money side of pharmacy. If you can't get time off for the official summer placements I'd definitely recommend trying to get some short term work experience like I'm doing... it's my own time, without pay, but I'm really enjoying it and am learning a lot.

Typically 39 hours - Monday to Friday (unless your pharmacy is open on a Saturday... in which case your pharmacist might spread your hours into Saturday too - working less during weekdays).
Pay will be minimum wage unless you already work there at a higher rate... in which case you will normally keep that rate of pay.

Boots placements are 37.5 hours a week (although you will usually work store hours so if the store is open longer you will be expected to work longer, but normally have more breaks). If your Boots is open Saturday you normally do every other Saturday, but that depends on the pharmacy.
However pay is more than minimum wage, depends on area but general pay is around £7-£7.50 an hour.

Hi, I have just done 2nd year pharmacy and Im awfully worried as i havnt done any placements, been rejected from lloyds boots and tescos both years that I applied. If you dont mind me asking, which supermarket allowed you to do this unpaid placement? And do you think its too late to find anything now that its the end of july. Thanks

39 hours - £6.08 per hour was my offer from Lloyds this summer.

Does anyone know whether pharmacies accept international students for summer placements?

Um... provided they are currently undertaking a pharmacy degree in England? Yes.

How about if they are currently undertaking a twinning course?
