How long until you see changes?
Hi,
So, this summer I've decided to start eating really healthy and do lots of exercise.
Mainly because I want to improve my skin.
However, I've been doing intensive exercise and healthy eating for over a week now and I've seen no changes whats so ever!
Granted it's only been a week.
But I was just wondering if anyone knew how long it would take to start seeing changes? -
Re: How long until you see changes?
I know that eating badly makes your skin worse, but I'm not sure if eating well will improve it. I don't think it quite works like that. I've got some friends that are into cross country running at a national level and are two of the healthiest guys you will ever meet with absolutely horrific spots. Good luck anyway!
Are you using any moisturisers/creams? I've found they just tend to make things worse. I just stick to water - at first without moisturiser your skin is dry, but the natural oils or whatever balance out eventually (sounds really new-age and hippyish, but I think it's true!)

it takes more than a week for your skin to appear clear/healthy
carry on eating healthy foods that are good for the skin. replace soft drinks for green tea and water and make sure you clean your skin x2 a day, once in the morning as soon as you wake up and once in the evening before you go to bed and make sure you apply suncream to your face/moisturizer. use brands like simple that contain no extra chemicals that could be harmful for the skin and also exfoliate your skin once/twice a week and within 2 - 3 weeks your skin shall look clear!
keep up the good work!

Re: How long until you see changes?
It will take longer than a week to see any changes, at least 2 or 3. Don't let that put you off though! It will all be worth it in the end

It's really good that you are exercising and eating well - including plenty of vitamins through fruit and veg. is a sure way to improve your skin. Vitamin E is a top ingredient for improving skin. It can be found in foods like spinach, avocado, pine nuts, brocoli and olives. You can also buy vitamin capsules, which you can either swallow as a supplement or burst and use as a moisturiser. They work really well! Other important vitamins for good skin are A, K, C, B. Look for foods, moisturisers/serums or supplements containing these. Coconut oil, zinc cream, dermatalogica, are all really good skin products that you can look into.
As well as exercising and eating well, you need to get a good skin routine planned (as mentioned above). You need to be cleansing your skin twice a day, in the morning and before you go to bed. Also, make sure you cleanse after exercising, to clear your pores of sweat which can lead to excess oil and spots. The Body Shop do a really good seaweed toner and cleanser range which has helped my skin to clear up considerably. Make sure you remove your makeup 100% before going to bed, I do this by using two makeup wipes, then cleansing my face to make sure my skin is sqeaky clean!
Try to give your skin a break from makeup if you can, it's one of the worst things for causing spots. It's frustrating, because when you have break-outs the first thing you want to do is slap on some foundation, but just bear in mind that this can clog pores up and just make the situation worse. Avoid using foundation, instead use a day cream/primer and concealer. For when you want heavier coverage, get a mineral makeup powder which lets your skin breathe.
I hope this helps, and that you begin to see some improvements soon.
